Hi hymessteve,
I think you are right but not sure.If you want to gain more information about teeth whitening, you can visit this site.So please have a look........
When we rub our teeth with hydrogen peroxide there is a possibility that it will go in stomach also so is there any side effect of this on our body.

The main question is the concentration of hydrogen peroxide ... if it is about 3 percent it may cause chemical burnings and stomatitis in fact...So you must be careful with that...But a lot of whitening systems for dentist consist of 1.5 percent concentration and they are certificated for home use by patients ...And don`t forget that hydrogen peroxide as every another chemical substance , that allocates free oxygen , increases permeability of the enamel...and this can be axpressed in sensibility or even caries ...
So,better brush your teeth with simple toothpaste...

The peroxide ingredient in most teeth whitening products is what actually bleaches the enamel and makes your teeth whiter. The strength of the whitening treatment typically depends on the strength of the peroxide contained in the whitening product.
