I was wondering if anyone has ever had to have a root canal retreated.  My dentist is Dr. Karl Jobst and he recently retreated a molar that was orginally done 5 years ago. It had been hurting really bad. Dr. Jobst retreated it and it has never bothered me since, he has always done a great job for me. Dr. Jobst said it had re-infected. Wondering how it re-infects. Oh well it dosen't hurt anymore I think he must have shot it with a silver bullet because it was really hurting.

i feel of u i am dentist and from my little experiance i can tell u that the retreatment of root canal treatment is very difficult and has high failure rate .but in this case u should go under followup every 6 months if the condition become worst i advice u to extract it and goother option which is implantnull

Sorry to here about you infected root canal your dr must be good Endodontist because it is hard to re treat a infected root canal Infected root canals have a deleterious effect on the immune system permitting the development of many degenerative diseases including heart disease, arthritis, kidney disease, blood stream infections, subacute bacterial endocarditis, phlebitis, anemia, leukopenia (low white blood cell count), back, neck and shoulder pain, neuritis etc.
