Hi. I amm hoping maybe someone here can help me...i have an abscessed tooth(well its about better now). i have a broken wisdom tooth and the one in front of it gets infected sometimes and this is the first time it was really bad. i always try to keep that fake filling stuff where its broken but i went a few days without it and then i ended up with this. so first of all, i know i NEED to have my wisdom teeth out and have a root canal but i wont have full dental insurance until the end of October....i have a dental discount thing right now but it cost me over $150 to go to the dentist thursday and get it drained. its starting to get better. i am on penicillin i have been on since last sunday...today is my last day. so here are my few questions:
1) at the er they gave me amoxicillin even though i told them i am on penicillin. i figured when i finish the penicillin if i am still having trouble i can start the amoxicillin...is that ok?
2)my big question - after this heals up and goes away what is the best thing to do to keep it from coming back again before i get my insurance? a few people told me just to make sure i use salt water and peroxide every day to rinse after i brush my teeth and brush my teeth every time after i eat and to get a tooth brush and all that to take with me when i am out somewhere so i can do it then too. i also bought garlic pills b/c i read they are a great natural source to fight infections...
i am hoping someone can help or give me some tips or maybe know someone that can answer my questions. this is just the worst pain i ever had and i dont want to go through it again before my insurance starts.
Thanks to anyone who has any advice or can offer any help!

If i were you have it checked by your dentist. They know how to treat that problem of yours. If your self-medication doesn't seems to work, just seek professional help.

You should visit your dentist and have your teeth examined, he/she can give you an advice on how to prevent abscess from coming back. You should seek an advice from professionals.
